How an Industrial RO Water Treatment Plant Works

Reverse osmosis (RO) is the heart of any packaged drinking water plant. An industrial RO water treatment plant removes dissolved salts, impurities and microorganisms to produce water that meets IS 10500 standards.

The main treatment stages

  • Raw water tank & dosing: stores incoming water; chlorine dosing controls microbes.
  • Sand (multigrade) filter: removes suspended solids and turbidity.
  • Activated carbon filter: removes chlorine, odour and organics.
  • Water softener: reduces hardness to protect the RO membranes.
  • RO membranes: high-pressure membranes reject dissolved salts (TDS), delivering purified water.
  • UV & ozone: final disinfection for microbiological safety.

How reverse osmosis actually works

A high-pressure pump pushes water through semi-permeable membranes. Pure water passes through while rejected salts and impurities are flushed away as reject water. Recovery is typically up to ~75% depending on feed water.

Choosing the right capacity (LPH)

Capacity is measured in litres per hour (LPH). Estimate your daily bottling need, add a margin, and divide by working hours. Our RO plants range from 250 to 10,000 LPH and are matched to your filling machine output.

Maintenance tips

  • Backwash sand & carbon filters regularly.
  • Monitor TDS and membrane pressure.
  • Replace cartridges and service UV/ozone on schedule.
